Come celebrate history at our town’s 50th annual Essex Day celebration!

Every year, the Town of Essex comes together on the first Saturday of August and celebrates our community with a town-wide yard sale and street party. Come join the fun and see what makes Essex special.

When is it?

August 3rd, 2024, time 10am - 2pm

Where is it?

Main Street in Essex, NY (plus yard sales in the surrounding area)

Main Events

  • Food Trucks: Papa Duke's BBQ and Indian Bay Woodfired Pizza,
  • Town-wide yard sale: Not on Main Street? No Problem! As space permits, we’re offering free street space to Essex residents and community non-profits. Click HERE to register!
  • Book Sale: Belden Noble Memorial Library will host their annual Essex Day book sale at the library from 10am - 4pm. After 3pm, fill a bag of books for just $5!
  • "Paint & Take": Parents and children are invited to paint with their children on the porch of the Village Gallery. All supplies are free. Plus: craft & beading book giveaway!
  • The Village Gallery: Featuring: abstract, floral and landscape acrylic, encaustic and ink paintings by Stephen Zeitfinger and Helen Goetz.

What else is happening? 

  • Third Annual Talent Show: Friday, August 2nd at 6:30pm at the Masonic Lodge. Members of the Essex community and surrounding towns are invited to showcase their talents onstage for all to enjoy! Adults $25/Students $15. Presented by the Essex Theatre Company.
  • Live Music at the Barn Door Tavern
    • Saturday, August 3: Piotr Barcz Trio, 8-10pm
    • Sunday, August 4: Mark Henry, 2-4pm
