Come celebrate history at our town’s  45th annual Essex Day celebration!

Every year, the Town of Essex comes together on the first Saturday of August and celebrates our community with a town-wide yard sale and street party. Come join the fun and see what makes Essex special.

What else is happening? 

  • Essex Gateway Trail Opening Hike: Join CATS staff at 9am for a guided hike of The Essex Gateway Trail! Visit www.champlainareatrails.com for moreinfo
  • Pop-Up Art Exhibit at The Essex Old Brick Store:  The Exhibit will feature intriguing collages and mobiles by Plattsburgh artist Alex Clark, presented by Bell Fire Arts Collective. Listen to a talk from the artist at 11 and 2
  • The Village Gallery & Studio: Artist Helen Goetz will have demonstrations about creating alcohol ink paintings at 11am and 1:30pm
  • Annual Book Sale: 10am–4pm at Belden Noble Memorial Library. After 3pm, fill a bag for $5!
  • St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Bake, Craft, and Rummage Sale: 10am–2pm. All proceeds go towards St. Joseph’s 150th Anniversary 2024
  • Essex Talent Show: A Fundraiser for Essex Theatre Co. and Families First at 7pm at the Masonic Lodge! To sign up to perform or buy tickets, visit www.essextheatre.org
  • The Depot Theatre Academy Presents Matilda Jr: 7pm at the Whallonsburg Grange Hall. Tickets are limited and available in advance only. Visit www.depottheatre.org for more info
  • Essex Community Church will be selling homemade cookies, ice tea, and lemonade
  • Hot dogs and cold drinks for sale across the street from the Essex Post Office, all sales benefit High Peaks Hospice
