Essex Day

Come celebrate history at our town’s 52nd annual Essex Day celebration!

Every year, the Town of Essex comes together on the first Saturday of August and celebrates our community with a town-wide yard sale and street party. Come join the fun and see what makes Essex special.

When is it?

Saturday, August 1st, 2026, time 10am - 2pm - Entrance to this family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

Main Street in Essex, NY (plus yard sales in the surrounding area)

• ‍Enjoy refreshments at local restaurants: The Essex Ice Cream Cafe (open at 8am) Special Essex Day Meatball Sliders!, The Essex Inn on the Adirondack Coast  (open 11am-1:30pm & 5pm-9pm for dinner- Special Bloody Marys!, The Old Dock Restaurant & Marina (open 11:30am-9pm), The Pink Pig Cafe (open at 8:30am)
• Browse local shops:  The Adirondack Art Association Gallery, 1867 Schoolhouse, ECHO Heritage Museum, Book and Leaf, The Neighborhood Nest , Pink Pig Cottage Antiques, Smiles Studio Arts‍

• Live Music: Too Tall String Band (10am - noon), The Essex Theatre Company (12:30pm - 2pm). Made possible, in part, by the Essex County Arts Council's Cultural Assistance Program Grant with funding provided by Essex County.

• Bounce House! (Free), Face Painting! (Free), Games! (Free), Popcorn! And More!
• ‍Food Trucks: Papa Duke's BBQ and Indian Bay Marina Pizza on Point Woodfired Pizza, Hotdogs for Hospice by the Essex Community Church‍
• Town-wide yard sale: Not on Main Street? No Problem! As space permits, we’re offering free street space to Essex residents and community non-profits. Click HERE to register!
• Book Sale: Belden Noble Memorial Library will host their annual Essex Day book sale at the library from 10am - 4pm. After 3pm, fill a bag of books for just $5!

Other Happenings:

• The Essex Theatre Company Cabaret Show with Thistle Carson and Friends will be on Saturday, August 1st at 7:00 pm at the Masonic Lodge in Essex, NY, highlighting jazz standards. Food, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic beverages available.
• The Adirondack Art Association Gallery in the New Gallery at the 1867 Schoolhouse (corner of Rte.22 & Elm St) presents an art exhibition featuring oil painter Dennon Walantus - August 1st - August 30th open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 11-3pm, stop by for the opening day on Essex Day!
